Paradise Island, Bahamas
Paradise Island is a small island in the Bahamas. It's located near Nassau Island, and sometimes referred to as Nassau Paradise Island. The island is only 685 acres, has a semi-tropical climate and is hidden behind the islands between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean, a few hundred miles from the United States’ southern coast.It was once called the Nassau island and is now known as Paradise island. Past History
Christopher Columbus discovered Paradise Island, as it was his first landfall in the New World. He claimed it for Spain, but that claim was abandoned because of the lack of gold. Over the centuries, the harbor only a few hundred miles from the United States’ southern coast has sheltered religious dissenters, ship wreckers, pirates, freed slaves, blockade runners, and rum smugglers.
Paradise Islands Today
Paradise Island is now a popular tourist destination, due in part to its beaches. There are several resorts and hotels on the island.
